Why did the client need our services?
Goodbye Asbestos offers safe and affordable removal of asbestos garages, sheds, and outbuildings. Our asbestos contractors are fully licensed and insured to carry out all types of asbestos removals.
Our customer needed us to demolish and dispose of the entire garage structure, ensuring the safe removal of asbestos cement materials. They wanted the concrete base to be left intact and undamaged as part of the demolition.
In addition to the structural considerations, a qualified electrician was engaged to isolate and secure the electrical components, prioritising safety during the demolition.
What work was carried out?
The working area was meticulously prepared by covering it with 1000-gauge plastic, ensuring the local area remained uncontaminated throughout the removal process. To safeguard against contamination, our team wore appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks, providing a barrier between us and potential hazards.
Surfaces were lightly dampened using a hand-held sprayer, ensuring adequate saturation to minimise asbestos dust disturbance. Careful attention was given to removing bolts utilising hand-held bolt cutters to prevent damage to the asbestos panels. The panels were then pried out, maintaining their integrity without resorting to excessive force.
The panels were carefully lowered to the floor and wrapped with two layers of polythene, securely fastened with duct tape. This meticulous wrapping process aimed to prevent any contamination during transit. Asbestos H-type hoovers were used around the removal area to ensure the thorough removal of debris.
When the work was completed, we conducted a comprehensive visual inspection, assessing all areas to confirm the success of the removal process. Paperwork was then issued, confirming the pristine condition of the work area after the removal.
Were there any challenges?
The walk to carry the materials to the roadside was approximately 100 metres. However, we brought a few wheelbarrows to carry the materials over this distance.
